As a vegetarian, I am always looking for meat substitute options. I’ve heard some debate as to why a vegetarian or vegan would want food texture that resembles meat. Perhaps, it’s because many of us grew up in an environment where each meal regularly included some type of meat. Personally, with meat substitutes, I can enjoy familiar and traditional recipes from my childhood without compromising my values. Meat substitutes can offer a texture profile that is sometimes difficult to recreate with vegetables and grains.
